Best Law Firm Rankings USA 2026: Finance and Transactions

Finance is the one part of the US market where Legal 500 beats Chambers more often than the other way round. It is also the only cluster in which a third generalist, IFLR 1000, competes across the board. Eight practice areas are rated, and they do not point in one direction – which is precisely why an averaged “best ranking” would be useless here.
Eight finance practice areas – who leads where?
Legal 500 leads in four areas: Banking & Finance (9.2), Capital Markets (9.2), Restructuring/Insolvency (9.3) and Private Banks (9.2). Chambers leads in three: Private Equity (9.3), Fintech (9.3) and Investment Funds (9.2). In Corporate/M&A, the largest area of all, the two are exactly level at 9.1 – and IFLR 1000 is only one tenth behind at 9.0, its strongest showing anywhere in the US data.
IFLR 1000 otherwise ranges from 8.8 to 9.0, close enough to matter for a transactional practice deciding on a third submission. Leaders League rates 5.6 to 5.9 where it appears.
